11/6.13 WI-JANESVILLE-QUAKER STEAK AND
LUBE
I've seen this chain around the country and watched this location
finally transform from a Damon's to the Quaker Steak. No line on a
Wednesday afternoon, no wait to be waited on. I did notice that I and a
few others had to ask where the restrooms were. Strange location and not well
marked. I went with their version of a 'Philly,' it was missing the green
peppers and used a sweeter onion
great food. Today I was just
passing through, in the past I have stayed next door at the Microtel, when I do
again I will be back. Downside is no big rig parking, streets are posted
with a 4 ton limit for parking (?). The TA is just a few blocks away, worth the
walk.

TN-MANCHESTER-LOGAN'S ROADHOUSE
This is not a Philly.
and it didn't say it was. It is their steak sandwich, and has cheddar (?)
cheese instead of swiss, the onions on it are breaded and is made with BBQ.
Sandwich was good. I also had potato soup
very good. I was
seated as soon as I walked in, waited on right away and my bill was on my table
when I was ½ done eating. All things that make a difference when I am on
a 30 minute break. BUT food took a little while to get so this break became a
45 minute break, no harm done. Sign at the driveway entrance says 'No
Semi's,' I'm running a 40 foot straight rig today so that was not an issue, No
problems getting in and out. Walmart is a few feet away for those with bigger
rigs. Great food, but the price for the sandwich and soup is what I used
to spend in three days when I was living off the fast food dollar / value
menu's. I may be back, but not often.

Airport prices, but
Great
customer service. Good food too. I had a hot ham & cheese with
coleslaw. I came in contact with four employees in my brief visit, all were
helpful & pleasant. (OK, as a northerner, I could do without being
called 'honey') ;) |
