ND-CASSELTON - COUNTRY KITCHEN - POSTED
* patty melt
WHAT ?
The reason I stopped at a
Country Kitchen was to get a 'Country Boy' burger, the tidbits in the menu
refer to the 'Country Boy' and 'Country Gal' as being the icons of the chain.
BUT neither are available. So I ended up ordering a patty melt and potato
soup. Being a chain restaurant,I am pretty sure the soup is pre-packaged, but
they did a good job of dressing it up with cheese and bacon. Big rig
parking is available either behind the building or across the street at the
truckstop.

* philly They didn't see me (when I walked in) and had to
ask for my bill
but other than that the service was good the food was
good. Broccoli soup was really, really good. The Philly was different
Swiss cheese maybe? The meat, cheese, onions all just seemed to melt
together on a good bun.

<<< waiting for food list
The farmer WOW. I
(almost) ate 'The Farm,' I wish I had written down what all is on it. KOBE
beef, ½ #, brat, egg? Way more food than I need or usually eat. When at
home I will eat a ½ of a ¼ #'er without the bun. Here I ate
almost the whole thing, plus soup
potato of course. My co-worker
had a 'taco' type salad? But it was with potato chips instead of the usual
chips and there was a lot of it, huge plate, staked high
it too (he
said) was very good. Besides the soup, you had a choice of 20 different
types of sides
all potato : When we walked in, there was just a few
people at the bar and a couple more playing pool. Hesitated and then went in,
at first we both were going to order the 'special' of beef tips as it was one
of the cheapest things on the menu
but they were sold out, so it must
have been busier earlier today. Great food, if I get in the area again I
will be back.
ID-ID FALLS - GUEST HOUSE - POSTED
Pretty sure I have stayed here years ago, and likely will again if I get in the
area, it's just not a main route for us. It does have dedicated truck
parking, don't try to get around the building in a truck without checking it
out first. You can access the truck parking directly from the main street.
Like most Guest Houses I have stayed at, this is an older motel that used to be
something else. It has the perk, tub and workout areas, laundry, etc. Room was
a good size and clean, quiet and the AC worked, or was it the heat? We came
through snow and it is only September. Restaurant onsite is worth the
stay, lots of food for a fair price. A real surprise for 'motel food,' (you
have to go into the motel to get to the restaurant
great food.)

RAMADA (recent stay)
NV-RENO - JT ASHLEY'S - POSTED * beef
ravioli
Last time I stayed at this Ramada, the restaurant was closed
for the evening. Open tonight so we, co-worker and I, eat here. We went for the
2 4 20 deal, two meals and an appetizer for $20. I had the beef ravioli and he
had some kind of fish. For being mostly empty the service was a little
slow. We did get seated right away, but waits from there and had to ask for
re-fills on the water. We finally did order, I had forgotten I had a
choice of red or white sauce on my meal and they didn't ask. They defaulted to
red and I prefer white. My food was good, not often I head Italian on the road.
No complaints on the fish. Appetizer was good too.
CA-SFO -
TRAVELODGE - POSTED
Compared to the alternatives
not a bad place. Because of the bad reviews here on TripAdvisor, I had
stayed somewhere else a couple of weeks ago for a lot more money. This week I
was up against the same thing, motels were full and those that were not were
'over priced,' IMO. Today we checked the alternatives, no one was
accepting coupons or discounts. The next closest motel we found was $70 more
than the Travelodge so we agreed to check it out well when we checked in and
take our chances. The front desk was busy, two on staff both in the PM and
AM. No issues at check in. To be fair to the motel, or at least put things
in perspective. This looks like a 50+ year old motel while all/most of the
others are 'new.' And when looking at their bottom place rating, look and see
who they are being compared to. There is NOT a lot/any low or mid-ranged motels
in this area. And likely this motel building is not going to be around long,
someone could replace these 1-2 story buildings and put in a new high prices
high rise and charge 3-4 times these rates. This motel is on a huge lot with a
parking lot. The Holiday Inn and some of the others in the area have under
building parking. The basic grounds are well kept up (for a low/mid ranged
motel), no trash or unsightly areas. Steps and sidewalks were in good repair.
The room it's self would be on the low end of your typical Super 8/Days
Inn/EconoLodge. The only issues with our room would be the carpet was
almost worn through between the bed area (thin carpeting to start with), the
shower was old (no tub) but clean
no mold, etc, and the TV was in a
cabinet and when you opened the cabinet doors the TV would roll forward and the
cabinet was already leaning enough that you couldn't open the bottom drawer.
But the room everything I need (See my profile, I'm a trucker). It was
clean, quiet and the temp controls worked. We had checked out or room before
going for food and didn't notice any highway noise in the room, but once we got
to the outdoor stairs is when we noticed that our room was only feet from Hwy
99
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
But back in the room we couldn't hear the highway noise and I only
remember hearing one plane in the 16 plus hours we were there. Seeing we had a
late flight, I actually ate breakfast at the motel. Very limited selection, two
kinds of dry cerel, two kinds of juice, two kinds of bread, two kinds of fruit,
one pastery. The breakfast area only had 11 two person tables and there was a
line from at least 8AM until we left at 9AM so the food should have been fresh.
The only thing that I did not like to see was that there were no tongs for the
bread, everyone was just grabbing it with their hands. Compared to the other
motels in the area, it is by far the best deal. CA-SFO - IHOP - POSTED Bacon
omelet Adjacent to the Travelodge We were seated as soon as we walked in, from
there service continued to be prompt. I was with a co-worker, I ordered the
'bacon omelet' and he had a basic cheeseburger and fries. Pretty basic food,
both of us cleaned our plates. Nothing special, just good diner food. |
