2024 01 25 MN Spending the night at home ... 10:07 - 3 added 10:14 - 2 gone 10:51 - 1 gone 11:25 - 8 added 11:30 - 4 gone 11:35 - 2 gone 1 PM - 1 and gone in seconds 2:30 - 3:30 - 2 to Nakomis and gone Breakfast was last nights leftovers. Too much, to heavy for breakfast. We got a late checkout because we hadn't grabbed a trip yet. 12 noon we checked out but didn't have anywhere to go. Sat in the parking lot of the hotel and then decided to go to Culvers and get soup and sit for another hour. Somewhere in those above numbers, there were two going to upstate NY. Neither of us was excited about them, it is NY, it is not warm, and it would be four days for a two day trip because of the weekend. Still no trips so we headed home. Stopped once at Flying J in Northfield for fuel. Then when we are bout 10 minutes from home, the two Nakomis RV's showed up. But the screen was loading slow so BB wanted to see what else they had added. So we waited. By the time the screen loaded and nothing else good was on it, she called and was put on hold. And the trips were gone before a dispatcher answered so she hung up. Trips are going fast. Hesitate and the trips are gone. We could have watched the screen load while we were on hold but that didn't happen. Today there was also one trip to 1,000 Oaks. I'm guessing the other one for the week was yesterday. But we don't make any money moving just one. Hopefully there will be some trips again tomorrow. Or we will be off for the weekend and then doing local stuff for a while. We did talk about driving the four hours to Janesville to do the WI to MN trip but not wanting to work that bad this week. Load board US - 98 IA - 3 MN - 1 WI - 7 Another day of hitting refresh. We have talked about working for the local company tomorrow but we can't hit refresh when we are driving. Hopefully enough people grabbed trips today that the don't go quite as fast tomorrow. There is still one trip to MI that was on the load board yesterday. Not sure why no one wants that one. 2024 01 26 IA-OR 11:20 - 4 gone within minutes. We called on two 2:40 - 3 to NW 2::49 - 5 3:00 - 3 3:05 - 4 gone 3:24 - 2 left 3:46 - 5 added - 4:00 - 1 left 2 RV's to Medford OR ... spending the night at home We did call on two Sandy OR trips earlier but they were gone by the time someone answered ... but dispatch did say ))) we are not done for the day yet ((( There had also been two RV's going to southern CA that we were going to call on, but BB wanted to know WHERE they were going before we called. In the time it took to Google the town, the trips were gone. Finally at 4:22, they put out four Medford OR trips and we called right away. Lots of miles and the weather looks good. So we are getting out of town over the weekend, but not before. Being home gave us time to get caught up/cleaned up on paperwork for the last two trips. I have an email account that I have had for years that I now just use when I need to log on at a hotel to print paperwork. Last time I could not log on. Email address is correct, password is correct but I can't answer the security questions (likely because I set the account up before they were needed) So now I am locked out of that account and would have to agree to pay $55 a month for a Premium account for them to help/unlock the account for me. Load board US - 71 IA - 4 MN - 2 WI - 8 I guess someone else will have to do all the midwest short trips. We plan on getting up, heading out, at our usual time. Should be able to get to Chamberlin SD tomorrow. Long gaps between major hotels in SD. They want us to deliver by Weds. That is 500 miles a day Sun, Mon, Tues, Weds so it shouldn't be too hard. And we gain two hours heading west. We will be closer to the CA buses when we drop in OR than if we had taken the trips to LA/San Diego. Down side is that that dispatcher never puts trips on the load board, but right now he has a dozen, all going to LA. So I'm guessing he'll want us to do one before we head out of town. Pay is great but traffic is ... LA. IF we do that trip again, I think we will get a one way out of LA instead of BB following me, it's more money but less stress ... for both of us. |
