...My Life as 'Drive away' driver

Trip 24 - To ... nowhere, the other driver was a no
show. 11/29/03 - This was supposed to be a four day round trip to NJ / NY with another driver ... the new driver from last trip ... he was a no show Saturday AM. Because he had used my cell for his personal calls I was able to contact the place he was staying ... and they hadn't seen him for two days. ... and our GREAT emergency number never returns my calls, until someone contacts me Monday ... two days later ... to find out why the trucks are still sitting there. Then they want me to leave NOW ... not going to happen, I had stuff to get done this week and if I leave now I won't be back from that run 'til next week ... guess they found someone else to move them, I offered to leave that night ... eight hours later but that wasn't soon enough. Rumor has it the driver cleaned the money out of his ComCheck account right away ... doesn't look like he ever planned on taking the trip, but because of the Thanksgiving holiday dispatch had to put the money in his account before he left on the trip ... I'm guessing they will be watching that a little closer .... ... and I was stiffed for two days pay ... no work no pay ... Ouch again. |
